Ben, We Hardly Knew Thee

It's BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!! Oh joyous day!

It's been difficult for me not to read Doc Jensen's write-up of Thursday's episode. I like to wait until after I've written my piece so that I'm not so heavily influenced by his brilliance. Of course, I could never be as astute as the Doc, but I do like to formulate ideas of my own.

This shouldn't take very long. I was in Helsinki all week on a business trip, and I got home at nearly 1:00am Friday morning (after a 28 hour day, literally). Therefore, when I watched Lost - which I HAD to before going to bed - I didn't take notes. I just wanted to watch.

I was very pleased with this episode. Freakin' Michael Emerson!!!! How I love him! If he doesn't get an Emmy this year, well, screw the Emmy's!

So, here's what I remember (seriously, I fell asleep for like 30 seconds at the very very end):

  • Ben and his retractible billy club - dangerous duo indeed! BTW, weren't there TWO horses? Each of those guys had a horse, so what happened to the other horse?
  • Mr. Moriarty is a very special guest of that Tunisian hotel. But that lady looked really afraid of him. And she should be.
  • LOVE when Sawyer freaked thinking that Ben was going to shoot him, then turned his fear into awe, then finally understanding that Ben was actually handing the gun to him.
  • Who wasn't hoping Claire would die? She's pretty much dead weight at this point. Especially with that AWFUL wig.
  • As much as I didn't want it to, I knew that the Ben/Beefcake standoff would end badly, very badly. Again, Michael Emerson is oh so amazing! His face!!!
  • I completely accept the reason that Sayid begins to work for Ben (even though ben TOTALLY played him). I just can't believe I didn't think of that reason already!
  • Gosh, memory fading here... what happened next... OH - I think it already happened, but I do NOT believe that Jack was taking antibiotics... LIAR!
  • Uh... oh yeah... back to Ben & Co. So, Ben went in his secret chamber... Um, is that when the flashforwards occured? And then, the monster came. So, was Ben flashing forward, summoning Smokey, or BOTH?!?!
  • We still don't know what the monster is... :-( But - it kicked those Fighting Freighters' asses!!!
  • Oh yeah, the doctor from the Freighter (aka, the guy from CSI) washed up ashore with his throat slit. I love that Bernard had a part in figuring out that Crazy Physicist was LYING when he said that everything was fine. But where, or where, is Rose?
  • Back to Ben - Ben says goodbye to Alex, and it's really truly the first time I cry for him (yes, I cry). I didn't even feel that sorry for him in his first flashback episode. Ben really does have feelings, and I am glad that for once, I didn't have to doubt his intentions.
  • So when Locke's camp is making it's way to the beach, I loved Sawyer's protectiveness of Hurley. And him calling him Hugo. So sweet. And I'm sad that Sawyer's fate is to stay on the island. I hope that staying on the island doesn't necessarily mean bad...
  • Near-future Ben goes to Jolly Ol' England and sneaks his way into Widmore's bedroom. This is where I get confused. They seem an awful lot like God vs. The Devil here - but who's who? Ben says they can't kill each other... WHY? However, if Ben can't kill Widmore, he will go after the next best thing - Penny. NO! Not Penny!!!

Ok, I'm done here. I may have forgotten a few things, but oh well. Hopefully I'll be more coherent when I watch the next episode. Yay!

If LOST Had Opening Credits...

Via Google Reader, I came across a Lost-Media.com article about fake credits for LOST, complete with original theme song and everything.

Click here on Weebls to see the original HQ version, or just watch the embedded version below.

In my attempt to find the Weebls video, I found a wealth of other opening credit montages (silly of me to think that the Weebls one was the first!). I embedded my fave - LOST opening credits with the Buffy theme (there are a lot set to the Buffy theme, but I thought this was the best one). Enjoy!
